The UK Shipping Register is operated by the MCA and is divided into
four sections.
-
Part I is for merchant ships and pleasure vessels
- Part
II for fishing vessels
- Part
III for small ships (less than 24 metres)
- Part
IV for bareboat charter ships.
We
can assist you with obtaining Part 1 registration for your vessel
either in the UK or Channel Islands by obtaining all the necessary
documentation required by the Registrar from the builders, brokers,
previous owners and purchasers. We liaise with the Registrar and
obtain Name Approval. We can arrange to delete a vessel from a foreign
register and obtain UK registration.
We
can advise the most suitable type of Ownership for your yacht either
corporate, individual or joint depending on your requirements.
Tonnage
Every
ship has to be surveyed before it can be registered and requires
a tonnage measurement to be undertaken by an approved Tonnage Measurer.
We are able to do this through the YBDSA on behalf of the MCA. Further
details on Registration can be found at www.mcga.gov.uk or at www.ybdsa.co.uk.
